Welcome to the

NNSA Transuranic Chemistry

Center of Research Excellence

The Transuranic Chemistry Center of Research Excellence (TRU CoRE) develops and applies contemporary coordination chemistry and radiochemistry approaches to solve scientific challenges in transuranic chemistry critical to the NNSA mission. This scientific mission provides both solutions to long-standing technical challenges and establishes a workforce development program to support the mission of the US National Laboratories and the NNSA.

The TRU CoRE spans 8 research groups across 6 universities and includes collaborations with 4 National Laboratories. The team is balanced between synthetic chemists, spectroscopists, engineers, and theoreticians to support the range of techniques and analyses necessary to map the bonding and reactivity of plutonium hydride complexes and redox control of americium separations.
